Millbrook Band Boosters Club (MBBC) is an independent organization created in 1974 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to support and enhance the educational and extracurricular programs of the Millbrook High School Band. From providing volunteers to fundraising we help with all the behind the scenes work it takes to make Millbrook’s extensive program successful. This allows the band director, musicians, and performers to focus on what’s really important.

Meetings

Booster meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month. All band parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Board Members

Wendy Newsom

President

Wendy Newsom is a dedicated volunteer and active member of the Millbrook community. She has contributed her time and organizational skills to several local and national nonprofit organizations, including North East Wake Backpack Buddies and Get Out the Vote. Wendy has also worked as an Executive Assistant for several Fortune 500 companies and youth-serving nonprofit organizations, bringing strong organizational and leadership skills to every role.
As the mother of two children, Wendy enjoys being involved in their activities and supporting the Millbrook High School Band program. She values the sense of community and enrichment that the band provides and is excited to work alongside fellow parents and board members to help the program continue to thrive. In her free time, Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and finding new ways to support causes close to her heart.

Denes Kovacs

Vice President

Denes is a father of 3, whose eldest is currently a junior participating in wind ensemble, marching band, and winter percussion. Denes is happy to further his volunteer experience with the band after helping in various ways the previous 2 years. While band activities are new to him, he appreciates and enjoys what the band has meant to his kids. With another Kovacs arriving at Millbrook in 2026 who is interested in joining the band program, Denes is happy to continue to support the band with his wife, Leah. In his spare time he enjoys watching his kids’ other activities, running with his Australian Cattle Dog, and playing soccer.

Scott Davis

Treasurer

Scott Davis is a 1991 graduate of Millbrook High School and has 2 children that have graduated from Millbrook and currently has a senior at Millbrook as well. He graduated from NCSU with a bachelors in education and is the co-owner of eNeRGy Kidz. He enjoys sailing, snow skiing and helping out the Millbrook Band.

Sara Teristi

Assistant Treasurer

Sara is the mother of two boys who have found their home in the Millbrook High School Band program. Wanting to give back to the program that has meant so much to her family, she has been volunteering in various ways for the past five years and is honored to take on the role of Assistant Treasurer. Sara brings years of experience working with nonprofits, coupled with a professional career in banking and insurance. Now in semi-retirement, she continues to apply her skills by designing websites for small businesses.

Rachel Davis

Secretary

Rachel Davis is the co-owner of eNeRGy Kidz, which she operates alongside her husband, Scott Davis. Originally from Henderson, North Carolina, Rachel spent her childhood and teen years immersed in dance, competing with the Ballet Arts All Stars team. She earned her Business degree from Meredith College and has combined her passion for athletics and arts with her professional background to help foster a dynamic and creative space for kids to grow and learn. Rachel and Scott are proud parents of three children and have loved watching each of them grow through the arts programs at Millbrook High School. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading, traveling, spending time at the beach, and cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes.
