This signs you up for Band Class next year. Our program has a lot of pick and choose options, but the only way you have access to all of our extra curriculars (such as Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Groups, and more) is by being in a band class.* This is the first step all incoming freshmen must take to join our program. Students in band classes are strongly encouraged to do marching band, but it is not a requirement.
*Those in color guard are not required to be in a band class.
Classroom placement auditions will take place on May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
Audition materials can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/mhsauditions23
All students interested in auditioning for Symphonic Band should play the A sections. If you are interested in auditioning for the more advanced Wind Ensemble, you should place the B Section. In addition to the short solo excerpts posted above, students must also play their F (tongued), Eb (slurred), and D (tongued) Scales.
Audition sign-ups can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jhfAG9KQXNa35pIrgAoklNHb0uGwC-x8Eez7JmHRK1g/edit#gid=0
Auditions are optional but highly encouraged! We want to ensure we place every student in the correct class, so they are both properly challenged and not overwhelmed. Auditions are very informal, and will include a short solo and a couple of scales.
This is our big Spring marching band event! We reveal our show theme for next fall, introduce Freshmen to their sections, and give important parent information out at our parent meeting. If you are planning to march, or even if you're still on the fence, we encourage all incoming Freshmen to attend so they can get an idea of what to expect next Fall.
This year our event will be in person and take place at 5:30pm in the Millbrook Cafeteria.
The registration link will be posted here on April 17th and run through May 18th. You must sign up if you are planning to march in 2023.
